President Droupadi Murmu showcased her passion for sports by engaging in a badminton match with Olympic bronze medallist Saina Nehwal at the Rashtrapati Bhavan’s Badminton Court on Wednesday. The event highlighted India’s prowess in badminton, especially with women players making significant global impacts.
The President’s official account on X (formerly Twitter) praised her initiative, underscoring India’s rising status as a badminton powerhouse. As part of the ‘Her Story – My Story’ lecture series featuring women Padma Awardees, Saina Nehwal, celebrated for her achievements including being the first Indian woman player to attain World No.1 ranking and receiving Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan, will deliver a lecture and interact with the audience at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre on Thursday.
President Murmu’s office initiated the ‘Her Story – My Story’ series to spotlight the journeys of women Padma awardees, aiming to foster informal interactions and forge connections with pioneering women achievers at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
